And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.

Exodus 4:10-13

Some people have so many excuses NOT to serve the Lord. “I’m too poor,” one might protest. “I have a good job.” Another may say, “I’m not married.” “I don’t know how to preach.” People will use any excuse to keep from serving God.

William Borden was the son of a millionaire. Instead of letting this deter him, he used it for the Lord. He realized that there were missionaries, preachers, and ministries in the Lord’s work that needed money. Borden used it for the Lord, and the Lord blessed him.

You should never complain when the Lord calls you to do something for Him. If God is calls you into His work, He is going to take care of you and help all the way. It does not matter if YOU think, “I can’t do this,” or “I can’t do that” – God will take the one thing we thought we would never be able to do and use it for His glory. When He calls us, He will also equip us. Nothing is impossible with God!

Challenge: We all have excuses not to serve the Lord.  What excuses have you made? List them, and then pray that the Lord will help you to overcome those things. Ask Him to help you submit your life to His control.
