Last week, VBM missionaries from all over Latin America traveled to Barranquilla, Colombia, for our bi-annual regional conference. All in all, seven countries were represented by twenty-eight missionaries and three interns. It was a time of refreshment, learning, and fellowship in the gospel.
This year, we changed up the schedule and heard from various missionaries in both combined and split sessions. Multiple topics were covered, including “Practical Advice for a Life of Joy,” “Discipleship is at the Heart of Multiplication,” and “The Ministry and the Crucified Life,” just to name a few. In the afternoons, missionaries were able to get together, catch up, and encourage one another in the Lord. After the evening sessions, the fellowship continued over laughter, games, pizza, and even counsel. There is nothing better than serving the Lord alongside great friends who are living for Him!
However, one can’t help but walk through a Latin American city such as Barranquilla and think of how many cities just like this need the gospel. Although the Lord is working and greatly using the missionaries currently in Latin America, we’ve barely scratched the surface of all there is to do for Him in this region. Would you consider giving your life for the gospel’s sake in this needy yet fruitful area of the world?
Kevin & Beth White are currently raising funds to help buy property for a church in Pacata, Bolivia, and recently had some special offerings come in–we thank the Lord for His provision! Kevin also took a trip to northern Bolivia with a group of young men to preach, train, and encourage several northern churches who have been fairly isolated since the start of the pandemic. Continue to pray for the Whites and the ministry in Bolivia!
Stephen & Ashlee Underwood are in the midst of raising funds to purchase property for Grace Baptist Church in Ezeiza, Argentina. We thank the Lord for how He’s provided the initial down payment and are praying for the rest of the funds to come in. The Underwoods are also getting ready to hold a baptismal service for several young men who have been recently saved and discipled. God is doing a great work in Argentina!
Kyle & Hannah Shreve have their last missions conference and meeting at the end of November. They are currently preparing to apply for their temporary residency visas, but because Chile has recently changed and added to its visa requirements, the Shreves have to submit extra documentation. Please pray the Shreves can apply for their visas soon and head to Chile in early 2023.
Miguel and Mariangela Sanabria recently held their first service at their second church plant, Refuge Baptist in Bello, Colombia. They had a total of 7 visitors come during their first week! Continue praying for the Sanabria family and this young church plant as they work on outreach activities to invite people, share the gospel with them, and disciple them.
